
With two law enforcement officials shot and the gunman believed to be barricaded inside his split-level home, police unveiled the latest crime-fighting machinery in Metro Detroit.
The GPV Sergeant 4x4, a $542,000 armored truck replete with blast-resistant body, rotating roof hatch and gun ports, used a battering ram to knock down the front door during the standoff in the St. Clair County community of Capac last week.
Key quote: It can be used in everything from hostage situations to delivery of warrants to fighting terrorism, officials said.
Seems to be a case of overkill to deliver warrants. These behemoths are being provided with federal funds (your money) in the name of Homeland Security.
